(born April 6, 1946, Leningrad) is a Soviet and Russian linguist, Dr. Sci. (Philology), Professor, and specialist in French language and literature.
He is the Head of the Department of Romance Philology at the Faculty of Philology at St. Petersburg State University, Director of the French University College, and Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal "Ancient and New Romania," published since 1974.
He was awarded the Order of the Academic Palms of the French Republic. (2002)
