This publication is intended for students studying biological anthropology at various faculties of Moscow State University—Biology, History, Psychology, and Journalism—as well as for students and faculty of pedagogical and medical universities, secondary school teachers, and a wide range of readers interested in the problems of modern biological anthropology.
This textbook provides a consistent presentation of the fundamental concepts of modern biological anthropology—the science of humans as a biological species, their origins, and biological variability across time and space. Humans are also studied as a biosocial phenomenon, as the manifestations of their biological nature are largely mediated by the social environment. The textbook is organized according to the main sections of biological anthropology: human evolution, population anthropology, developmental anthropology, and constitutional anthropology.
The issues of anthropogenesis, anthropological differentiation, ontogenesis, and human constitution are examined with due consideration of the most recent data. The book contains reference and educational material.
