>Yevgeny Ivanovich Shpitalsky (1879–1931)
This book presents updated and expanded biographical information about one of the outstanding physical chemists, Professor Evgeny Ivanovich Shpital'sky (September 28, 1879–November 23, 1931), a professor at Moscow University and Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. This book draws on materials from federal, regional, and departmental archives (the State Archives of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Archive of Economics, the Russian State Archive in Samara, the Central State Archive of Moscow, the Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Central Archives of the Federal Security Service of Russia, and the Archives of Lomonosov Moscow State University), as well as materials from the personal archives of E. I. Shpital'sky's relatives and the memoirs of his colleagues and students.
These materials illustrate his contribution to chemical science and the development of the chemical industry in our country, and also shed some light on the tragic end of his life. A significant portion of the documents are being published for the first time.

The first edition of this book was prepared for the 250th anniversary of Moscow University in 2005. The book presents publications of the first university newspaper “Moskovskie Vedomosti” (Moscow Gazette), published from 1756 to 1917, which contain a significant part of the history of Moscow University. In the second half of the 18th century. it was the only newspaper in Moscow. “Moskovskie Vedomosti” (Moscow Gazette) was prepared by professors and students of Moscow University, printed at the university printing house, and sold in the university bookstore. Gazetny Lane in Moscow is named so because the printing house, where the latest issues of the newspaper Moskovskie Vedomosti were distributed to subscribers, was located there at the beginning of the 19th century.
The book is addressed to everyone who is interested in the history of higher education in Russia and the history of Moscow University.

Zvenigorod Biostation is an outstanding department of Moscow University with a rich history. The biostation is of great importance for the formation of modern areas of biology and for students' knowledge of biological processes in a continuously changing natural environment. Generations of Russian scientists have preserved the biostation as a golden scientific and cultural foundation. Associate Professor K. N. Blagosklonov (1910-1985), having collected archival materials and information from employees, using his memories, briefly described the history of the biostation in the XX century. The first edition was published by the publishing house of Moscow State University in 1987. limited edition.
This reissue, provided with illustrations, including from the archive of K. N. Blagosklonov, and detailed comments, will provide an opportunity to introduce interesting materials to a wide range of readers.
