The author was an active participant in these processes, one of Deng Xiaoping's close associates, holding senior positions in the Ministry of Foreign Economic Relations and Foreign Trade and the State Council of the People's Republic of China. For many years, Li Lanqing was co-chairman of the Chinese-Russian Cooperation Commission. In 2000, he was awarded the title of "Honorary Professor of Moscow University".
