Abstract

Key micro- and macroeconomic concepts are presented within the framework of a fundamentally new approach to constructing economic theory. This approach is based on the distinction between pure theory and the complex of "realistic" economic disciplines, which includes classical macroeconomics. Pure theory, built on the deductive method, is intended to form a unique intellectual model of the economic system and reveal the nature of the interrelations between its main elements. However, between the conclusions of pure theory and practice there lies a "zone of uncertainty," which the complex of applied economic and non-economic sciences aims to reduce. This work allows the reader to understand the opportunities and limitations associated with the heterogeneous nature of modern economics and related social disciplines. The main text of each chapter uses minimal mathematical apparatus, while many chapters are accompanied by mathematical appendices. The textbook includes questions and assignments for independent study, bibliographies and commentaries, and a subject index.
