This textbook examines the topic of intercultural communication from the perspective of a new polycode (polymodal) paradigm of knowledge generation. The cognitive mechanisms of verbal and nonverbal communication are explored as effective polycode tools for intercultural communication, utilizing not only verbal but also other semiotic codes and channels involving such types of knowledge as visual, auditory, kinetic, tactile, olfactory, chromatic, proxemic, chronemic, synesthetic, and others. This enables the study of communication processes in their semiotic integrity.
